Howling Gale in Cornwall, and Flying Fish

Buy video

The continuous train of spectacular Violent Storms and raging Hurricane Force winds that recently trashed Cornwall's sea defences render today's more usual Force 8 Gale as comparatively 'not very interesting'. In Porthleven the quite remarkable Giant Golden Flying Fish weather vane swivels in winds gusting to 60mph while the inner harbour remains open to the sea and bereft of both fishermen and boats. Storm watchers turn out to watch the storm as spray bursts over the pier.

In Penzance, waves break over the granite blocks which were ripped out of the Promenade and cast into the sea by the Valentine's Day storm. As Cornwall braces itself for yet another major storm blast on Tuesday, the big question is, will the Giant Golden Flying Fish stand up to it?
