A mother's work is never done. A mother fox (vixen) contentedly manages four kits as they tussle for a place at the dinner table.

I learned about a fox den with 6 kits, just 45 minutes from my home in Silverthorne. I spent several mornings in a row watching and photography these adorable and playful baby red foxes. A major spring storm swept through the area and I was concerned that the kits would not survive the cold and 12 inches of new snow. I returned after the storm to find just the opposite. The 6 kits were romping and rolling in their new found discovery of snow. They seemed to love their new play thing as if it was placed there just for them.
