Dolphins Surf Observatory Beach Esperance West Australia
Incredible aerial footage has emerged of a pod of bottlenose dolphins appearing to surf a series of waves breaking off the southern coast of Western Australia.
Filmmaker David Riggs captured the amazing display at Observatory Beach, Esperance on the 4th of June using a camera mounted to a remote controlled quadcopter.
The pod of around 70 dolphins can be seen swimming horizontally in anticipation of each wave, before turning and letting themselves become carried along by the momentum.
'I've never seen them that intense and that playful, either - it was just extraordinary,' Riggs said.
