Cat loves sleeping on his back

Just like other cats, Jeremy the Ragdoll likes to sleep a lot. But unlike other cats, his favorite sleeping position is on his back. He is lying with his fluffy belly (the cat's most sensitive and vulnerable part) completely exposed and enjoys getting his belly rubbed. It shows how relaxed he is and how much he really trusts his owner. So cute! Cats in general sleep a lot. It is, arguably, their most known characteristic. But, nevertheless, it comes as a surprise to realize just how much is that. According to some sources, cats usually sleep between 12 and 16 hours, with 13 and 14 being the average and some cats can sleep as much as 20 hours! Wow, that means that they oversleep the biggest part of their life. To understand, why do they do it, we first need to remember that, just like their wild cousins, our domestic cats have the physiology of a predator. They are hardwired to chase and hunt! To be able to do that, in such an intense and explosive manner, they need to conserve energy. Sleep is the best way to do store energy for jumping, running, stalking and climbing.
