2.5 Minutes of Spectacular Lightning: Mother Nature's Grand Finale

This video, which includes two and a half minutes of non-stop lightning, was captured in Ultra HD 4K resolution while out storm chasing just west of Hoxie, Kanses with one of the top storm chase companies in the U.S.

On this chase day we drove about 7-8 hours through Nebraska before heading south to get to a storm we hoped would spawn a tornado, but the storm eventually fell apart. On the way back to our accommodations for the night we saw this slow moving lighting storm off in the distance, so we pulled over and watched it until it moved on. We were far enough away from this storm to be out of the rain shield, yet close enough that lightning bolts would sometimes arc over head followed by incredible clashes of thunder. Most sane people would have been running for the van, but instead I grabbed a couple of cameras, starting shooting, prayed we'd be safe, and just watched in awe. Lightning is scary, yet a fascinating and beautiful part of nature, and to be able to capture so many of these bolts striking and arcing across the sky was incredible.

Sever weather brings remarkable cloud formations, hail cores, lightning, and tornadoes - and are just remarkable to capture in motion.

This was likea 4th of July finale put on by mother nature, and it was just amazing to watch. I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I enjoyed capturing it.
