A shocking video has emerged of man kicking a squirrel into the Grand Canyon in the USA.

Two French men in shorts can be seen luring the squirrel with food before one of them boots the small animal off the edge of the canyon.

The footage was captured by Jonathan Hildebrand, a tourist to the scenic spot who witnessed the accident but claims not to be associated with the two individuals in the video.

‘I did not realize what was happening until it was too late, I do not know who they are. All I know is that they were French’ Hildebrand later wrote online.

The video sparked international outrage and, as of September 2014, a $15,000 reward was being offered by PETA for the identification of the men involved.
