Man holds hostage at knife point in busy square
A dramatic incident unfolded in Chongqing, China on Wednesday when a man took a hostage and held him knife point in a busy square.
According to local news reports, it took police one hour to persuade him to release his hostage at which point he placed the knife at his own throat and threatened to kill himself. Police convinced him to put down the weapon and he was arrested.
There were no reports of any injuries.
According to local reports, the suspect had recently argued with his wife who then left home with their child.
The suspect decided to take a relative of his wife hostage to attract her attention and force her to come back, according to local media.
