Baby orphaned elephant flies in a plane

An amazing video has emerged of a baby elephant being flown in a small plane.

Gary Roberts, an American nurse and missionary, was called to the rescue of the young orphan after poachers killed 100 elephants between Chad and Cameroon in March 2013.

The 160kg elephant, named ‘Max’ had to be flown to Gary’s house for treatment in the small, lightweight, four-seater plane.

"With an animal that size you can feel its weight shifting in the aircraft" Gary later told BBC News.

Unfortunately Max died just a few days after his ordeal as a result of his traumatic experience and the cow's milk he was fed in a village before being rescued.

Although the footage was captured at the time of the rescue last year, it has only recently surfaced online.
