A heartwarming video has emerged of firefighters rescuing a stray dog from a river in Dej, Romania on Tuesday.

The video shows the rescuers wrapping the frightened dog in a blanket and hauling it onto dry land.

In an interview, one of the firefighters described the rescue:

"Firefighters for Dej city were called to rescue a dog from the river. I managed to save the dog, otherwise it would have drowned.”
