A dramatic video has emerged of a basketball getting stuck on the basket's rim in the final second of a tightly fought US game.

The footage, captured in St. Mary's, Kansas on Monday, shows a player shooting the ball and it getting stuck in tense final moments.

The crowd are heard screaming and shouting while the players stare - with one collapsing to the floor. There was only one point separating the two teams.

The game, a Kansas Mid-East League 8th Grade Basketball League tournament semi-final, was between the Riley County Falcons (in white) and the Rock Creek Mustangs (in black) - standing with a score of 26 to 25 while the ball stayed perched atop the net.

The Falcons won with their score of 26 as time ran out without the ball dropping. One of the Mustangs players can be seen on the floor, head in hands.
