Heartbreaking CCTV footage has emerged from China of a dog waiting for thirteen days by a road, hoping its owner would return to pick it up.

In the video, captured on a security camera at a toll booth in Zhejiang Province late last month, the dog can be seen running around every time it saw a car - perhaps checking if its owner was back.

According to local reports, the dog jumped unnoticed from the owner's car while queuing for the toll booth. A police officer, Mr Fan, saw the dog and took it home - posting its to popular Chinese social platform Wechat an appeal for help finding its owner.

The police have reportedly found the dog temporary care and the search for its home continues.
