Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged from China of an unlicensed driver carrying a policeman on the bonnet of his car.

In the footage, captured on a security camera in Jiangsu Province on 3 April, the car can be seen speeding across a busy junction after the driver tried to make a getaway during an inspection.

According to local news reports, the police officer was carried for almost 500 metres before being thrown to the ground when the driver crashed into another vehicle.

Fortunately, a passing taxi driver was able to chase the car into a dead-end street and hold the driver there until police arrived.

The officer reportedly suffered injuries to his stomach and is receiving treatment in a local hospital.
