A heartwarming video has emerged of a grandmother’s shock on being shown a tattoo of her face on her granddaughter’s arm.

In the footage, captured in a home in Washington, US, Patty Lawing screams and cries after her granddaughter, Jessica Carey, shows her the tattoo done by her husband Aaron Carey.

“Nana is one of my favourite people in the world. I had my husband tattoo a portrait of her on my forearm and then drove up the four hours to surprise her,” Jessica later wrote online.

“Not only did I surprise her with a visit with my kids, but I also showed her how I chose to immortalize her. Her reaction is priceless.”

Although the video was captured in February, it has only recently emerged online.
