Porpoise dies after rescue attempt on UK beach
Footage has emerged of an attempted rescue operation on a beach in Somerset, UK after a porpoise became stranded on the shore.
The video, captured at Berrow beach on Sunday, shows the moment the creature had to be rescued after straying too far towards the shore.
Beach-goers initially discovered the 1.5m long animal washed up shortly before 7am, prompting swimmers to try and encourage it to swim further out into deeper water. Veterinary help and a team were brought in to assist with the rescue.
The creature is reported to have later died despite the rescue efforts.
