Footage has emerged of a group of fishermen catching an Opah, the "first fully warm-blooded fish", off the coast of San Diego, CA, US.

The video shows two men pulling the fish onto their boat's deck with spears as the rest of the crew cheers the sight of the rare fish.

Government scientists at the NOAA recently found that the Opah is "the first fully warm-blooded fish that circulates heated blood throughout its body much like mammals and birds, giving it a competitive advantage in the cold ocean depths".

Although the video was captured in September 2014, the fish's unique characteristics have only recently been discovered.
