Drone Fail - Flying in a Dust Storm in Arizona

Buy video

Lesson learned... do not fly your drone when a dust storm is about to pass over you! I was attempting to fly for a couple minutes before a moderate dust storm in Arizona blew over. I was hoping to get some aerial footage of the storm approaching and hoping to safely land before the storm actually arrived arrived... well, unfortunately, sudden strong winds that preceded the dust storm almost immediately swept away my DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus out of remote control range and the dust storm arrived much sooner than anticipated! You can see me running after it (guy in white T-shirt) in the beginning of the video! The drone ended up flying around aimlessly for almost 10 minutes, as you will see in this video. The video cuts out when the battery dies so you don't see the moment of impact when the drone crashes back to earth. Thanks to nice fellow neighborhood residents, the drone was found and returned back to me somewhat damaged.
