An amusing video has emerged of a theatregoer jumping onto a stage to try and charge his phone using a fake power socket.

The footage, captured just before a performance of ‘Hand To God’ at the Booth Theatre in New York, US earlier this month, shows the man trying to charge his phone on the stage set.

The man can then be seen gingerly making his way back into the crowd, prompting fits of laughter from the audience.

Actors and audience members were left to ponder whether the man’s actions were genuine or were part of a dare or a stunt.
