Dramatic dashcam footage has emerged from China of a group's miracle escape as a car smashes into a road barrier in front of them - after swerving to avoid an animal carcass.

In the video, showing the driver's perspective of the crash in Shandong Province earlier this month, the car can be seen trying to avoid pieces of dead livestock on the road when it careers into a crash barrier on the side.

Behind the barrier a group of three people can be seen standing - near a broken down car - and trying to dive for safety as the crash happens.

As the driver screams the car hits the barrier - but the three pedestrians managed to survive the accident. Two of them were reported to have suffered broken legs but no other injuries while the driver also escaped unscathed.

According to local reports the dead cow had fallen from an earlier delivery truck before being crushed into pieces by passing traffic - leaving the hazard in the middle of the road.
