An amusing video has emerged of a dad spectacularly falling over while competing in a 'dad's race' at a school sports day.

The footage, taken on a school field in Newcastle, UK on Friday, shows the man losing his balance and falling to the ground while legging it towards the finish line.

Writing online about the unfortunate incident, the man in the video said: "I was taking part in my daughters sports day "the Dad's race " and in my deluded head thought that I could actually win.

"I enthusiastically sprinted away and I was obviously carrying to much weight up front, which resulted in me toppling over."
