A dramatic video has emerged from China of firefighters saving a child who became trapped in a narrow well.

In the footage, filmed during the incident in Shandong Province earlier this month, several failed attempts are made to rescue him including dropping someone in who quickly becomes stuck.

Eventually rescuers managed to get the boy to attach a harness to himself and lift him to safety.

According to local reports the six-year-old boy was checked in hospital but sustained no serious injuries.
