A video has emerged of a leopard seemingly attempting to open a car door during a safari in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

The footage, captured by an English tourist in May, shows the animal walking up to the passenger side of the vehicle and placing its paw on the doorhandle, in an apparent bid to get in.

Thankfully, the door was locked as a precaution, and the leopard was prevented from entering the vehicle.

Writing online about the experience, the filmer said "This young male leopard was lying next to the road and sniffing the grass when I first laid eyes on him.

As I was taking pictures of Mr. beautiful, he looked me straight in the eye, got up and walked towards my car! That is the moment I decided to make a video.

Usually leopards are quite shy and would rather keep their distance, I was lucky he came to me and that I (and the car) were left unscratched. It was the best safari day of my life! :D "
