Baby seal rescued near Blackpool

Footage has emerged from the UK of a couple rescuing a stranded baby seal from a beach in Lancashire on Saturday.

According to witnesses, the young seal washed up on Rossall Beach and was unable to make it back out to sea because it was tired from battling the waves.

Passersby became concerned for the animal because of the large number of dogs walking on the beach and so called the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Protection of Animals).

The RSPCA deployed a couple from a nearby town who had only recently completed a course in how to rescue stranded seals.

They caught the animal in a towel, covered its eyes and kept him calm until a team from the RSPCA arrived.

They then took the seal to Sea Life in Blackpool to rest and feed overnight before releasing the animal in Walney.
