An unusual video has emerged of staff at a supermarket in NSW, Australia attempting to catch an escaped possum that found its way into the shop.

The footage, captured at a Woolworths store late last month, shows the rogue marsupial burrowing its way into the dairy section and growling as staff attempt to pick it up.

Eventually, the staff manage to put the animal into a box and take it outside.

"I was at Woolworths doing a quick shop and I saw a whole heap of Woolys' workers sounding the dairy section, so I glanced over and heard growling. It got me intrigued so I caught the rest on camera," the filmer wrote online.
