Rooney-less Manchester United arrive in Stockholm

Manchester United arrived in Stockholm without Wayne Rooney as they prepare to face local side AIK in a friendly on Tuesday.

With United having rejected a reputed £30 million bid for the striker from Premier League rivals Chelsea over the weekend, Rooney was absent from the United brought to Sweden by manager David Moyes on Monday evening.

The English champions said that the 27-year-old international had injured his shoulder in a game behind closed doors against Real Betis on Saturday.

However, Rooney is reported to be "angry and confused" about comments by Moyes during the summer that suggest that he would be backup to fellow forward Robin van Persie during the coming season.

United's playing and coaching staff were happy to sign autographs for fans but declined to answer questions as they made their way onto the bus at the airport, and again when they arrived at their hotel in the city centre.

The squad announced by Manchester United: Lindegaard, Amos; Rafael, Evans, Evra, Jones, Smalling, Vidic; Anderson, Bebe, Carrick, Giggs, Nani, Zaha; Henriquez, Kagawa, van Persie, Welbeck
