Dad and Son build awesome Solar Powered Pirate Pipe Boat
Video has emerged of a father and his young son who build an awesome solar powered electric pipe boat from random bits and pieces.
Using some plastic pipes and fittings from the hardware store, a toy snowmobile, an electric outboard from a toy boat and some solar panels, Jacob Strickling and his son Sam make an awesome pirate boat.
The solar panels produce enough electricity to propel the boat at up to 4 knots.
The boat was first launched at Terrigal Lagoon on the New South Wales Central Coast, Australia.
Jacob's kids had a lot of fun playing with the boat.
Unfortunately the boat did not have a lot of buoyancy, so when Sam's big sister Mikalah used the boat, we had to remove the solar panels to keep it afloat. Thankfully the boat was still able to operate on a small battery.
Jacob is a self proclaimed 'Mad Scientist' from Australia who loves producing Science and Engineering videos for his YouTube channel 'Make Science Fun'. His passion for all things Science and Engineering enthuses his children, science students and YouTube subscribers.
