Floodwater destroys Cumbria bridges
Over 21 Bridges in Cumbria remain closed after Storm Desmond wreaked havoc with the Counties infrastructure. Typical of the smaller bridges is this one on the River Rothay, between Rydal and Ambleside. The sheer volume of water overwhelmed the small stone bridges, smashing the ends off as the torrent travelled downstream.
