A long-suffering Thai landlord was appalled when his shameless tenants disappeared, leaving their rented room a sewage-covered rat pit.

Owner Art Ratchanon had leased the condo unit to a 'young and beautiful' woman and her equally 'good-looking' boyfriend for 12,000 THB (326 USD) a month for a one-year period in Bangkok.

However, the couple Kanyanat Sanwong, 21, and her boyfriend Christian, 22, allegedly proved to be irresponsible tenants who constantly failed to make the rent on time.

Before moving out, they had filled the room with piles of rubbish that made even professional cleaners retch with disgust. There were even rats inside the room.

Stomach-turning footage shows the repulsive rubbish dump, with maggot-infested takeaway containers, drinks cans, plastic bags, and
bottles covering every inch of the floor.

Some liquefied rot had mixed with urine filling the plastic bottles, and had seeped into the floorboards, while the toilet bowl had been filled with feces - unflushed as the water bill had not been paid in months.

The room's deplorable state came to light when building management sent an e-mail to Art saying the couple had brought in a pet cat, which was against the rules. If the feline was not removed from the premises, Art would have to pay a fine of at least 5,000 THB (136 USD).

Neighbours had also complained that the smell of cat urine and feces reeked from the room.

Fed up with the couple, Art said he had finally decided to kick them out and gave them one week's notice.

But when the tenants suddenly could not be contacted, Art decided to pay the room a visit himself before being greeted by the nightmarish sight on October 9. He said cleaners spent four hours scrubbing down the place, but all the furnishings had to be replaced.

He said: 'When I saw how they left the room, I felt very angry. I want someone who knows them to tell them to take responsibility for what they did, because the cost and damage caused is quite large.

'I'm very stressed right now, and the smell is still stuck in my nose because the room hasn't been completely cleaned yet. The insurance money is not enough to pay for the renovations. It still costs money to replace all the dirty furniture.

'Finally, I would like to tell others who have a rental unit or condo or house not to trust someone just because they are good-looking. Good looks don't mean good manners and hygiene.'

Art said he was planning to file a lawsuit to bring the despicable couple to justice.
