A wildlife photographer filmed as a female leopard attempts to swat away irritating flies in Kruger National Park.

The filmer told Newsflare: "It was late afternoon, and I was exploring a remote part of the Kruger National Park. As I drove through a small drainage line, I suddenly noticed 2 leopards lying on a rock, situated on the bank of the drainage line I was in.

"It was an adult leopardess and her young daughter. It is rare to see more than one of these solitary animals at a time, making this mother with daughter leopard encounter pretty special.

"It was just before sunset, and there were just so many flies around at that time of the day. I really struggled to keep my camera still and in position while trying just to keep the flies out of my nose and ears.

"The flies were hectic, and I quickly realised I was not the only one swatting and fighting flies. While the adult female leopard didn’t seem too bothered with all the flies, the young sub adult female clearly was. The way this young leopard went about fighting off those irritating flies was just too cute and funny to watch.

"Instead of just swatting all over place, the young leopard would lift her paw into the air as if she wanted to stop the flies from there already. Every now and then she had to swat around her ears before she would put one paw back in the air, looking like she is telling the flies to stop.

"The young leopard was calm and patient in all her movements, just consistently pawing at them before trying to block them with one paw again. Besides all the flies going up my nose and ears while filming this, it was really one of the more amusing sights I have seen out in the African bush."
