A cool video of a science YouTuber demonstrating how he made a solar-powered stand-up paddle board from bits and pieces he found around his garden.

The footage, filmed at the weekend in New South Wales, Australia for the YouTube channel Make Science Fun, shows Jacob Strickling building the board out of an old wind surfing sailboard, bits of timber, screws, an electric outboard from an old toy, a kids scooter, a pool net, clothesline, old wiring and some solar panels.

His children then test the paddle board in the Terrigal Lagoon, near Sydney, and it appears to work perfectly.

He later wrote online: "The SUP was a real hit with the kids and they played on it until the sun went down and the motor wouldn't run!"

While visiting local Terrigal Lagoon (1 hour drive North of Sydney, Australia) his children are keen to hire a watercraft.
Being quite thrifty (and the fact the paddleboats were locked up), Jacob races home and builds the solar powered SUP.

Jacob was inspired to make this SUP from a FaceBook post of a foot powered SUP he saw earlier that week.
Jacob is working on a new series for his YouTube channel.
The series is called 'MacScienceGuy (ver)' after the famous series starring Richard Dean Anderson.
In this series, he isolates a problem, and then solves it using science and engineering hacks from around the house.
The series will be launched on the 29th April with a go-kart bin hack, followed weekly by solar powered go-kart, then water dunking machine, then spin chair, then zipline, then solar powered SUP.
