Bizarre Boxing Day Duck Race

Thousands of people crowded onto the bridges and river banks of Bibury, Gloucestershire on Boxing Day for a bizarre British tradition - the annual duck race.

The charity event allows members of the public to sponsor decoy or rubber ducks before they race down the River Coln.

The first race saw 150 decoy ducks bobbing through Bibury.

The sponsor of the duck which crossed the finish line first won the right to nominate the charity to which all the money raised would go.

In the second race, more than 2-thousand yellow plastic ducks were released, each sponsored for one pound each, with prizes guaranteed for the first 20 ducks and the final duck to cross the finish line.
