A cool video has emerged from New South Wales, Australia of two snakes performing a mating "dance."

In the video, which was filmed in a back yard on Friday, two diamond pythons rear their heads in unison and entwine their necks as part of the mating ritual.

The diamond python is a medium to large snake, found in coastal areas and adjacent ranges of south-eastern Australia.

They are the most southerly occurring python in the world and are found at higher altitudes than any other species of Australian python.

They are not considered to be dangerous to humans.

Fascinating and bizarre mating ritual of two Australian Diamond Pythons courting and mating in my friends backyard. They live on the Central Coast of New South Wales, approximately 50 km North of Syfney.

The footage obtained yesterday was taken from inside the house using a fairly highly zoom, which explains the jumping around of the footage. My friend was basically too scared to go outside and film up close. The dog inside the house was clearly going crazy!

Diamond Pythons are one of the few species of Australian snakes which won't kill you! My friends love having them in their backyard though because they eat all the rats in the area.

Diamond Pythons are reptiles and due to being cold blooded become more active in hot weather, which Sydney is currently experiencing.

They can grow quite large, upto 3 metres, but 2 metres is more common.
After mating, the female will lay about 15 eggs, which she will then coil around to incubate.
