A cute video has emerged from the US of a man proposing to his girlfriend while they take a picture together.

The footage, captured in Napa, California, shows the woman checking the camera timer and standing up with her future husband when suddenly he kneels down to ask her to marry him.

''I told her that I think I set the self timer up incorrectly and to check the camera,'' the filmer later wrote online.

''While she went to check the camera I told her it was working and to come back for the photo. That is when I went down on a knee and asked to her to marry me,'' he continued.

After drinking a couple glasses of wine at a restaurant in Napa, California, I decided it was a good time to propose to my girlfriend. I didn't have a spot in mind but saw a picturesque bridge down a small trail. I set up the camera telling her I wanted to take a photo using the self timer but pressed the video record button instead. I told her that I think I set the self timer up incorrectly and to check the camera. While she went to check the camera I told her it was working and to come back for the photo. That is when I went down on a knee and asked to her to marry me. She obviously didn't know she was being recorded because of the language she used when I surprised her with the ring!
