Sea snake eats moray eel

Buy video

An underwater video has emerged from Thailand of a sea snake eating a moray eel.

The filmer, a dive instructor, said he first caught sight of the snake (a banded sea krait) and then noticed the eel lying dead in front of it and started filming.

The video was filmed off the Phi Phi islands earlier this week at a dive site called Turtle Rock.

Banded sea kraits have a very potent venom which they use to prey on eels and small fish.

The snakes are not aggressive to humans and only attack in self-defence.
