Footage has emerged from China of a child being thrown from a car as it sinks into a lake and caught by a passerby helping to rescue to occupants of the stricken vehicle.

The video, filmed in Changde in Hunan Province on Saturday, shows the man standing on the sinking car with a child in his arms as the rest of the family climb out the windows to save themselves.

According to local reports, the family were driving back from Lunar New Celebrations when they crashed into the lake.

Fortunately, they all managed to escaped before the vehicle sank.

In the video, captured in Changde, Hunan Province last Saturday, a man standing on a sinking car throws his child to a passerby on the side of the lake and he catches the child successfully.

According to local news, the family members drove back home for Chinese New Year but the car happened to fall into a lake.

Fortunately, no one was injured.
