Idaho horse rescue located in Boise Idaho was desperately searching for reportedly missing horses. January 17 2017 a search airplane located 2 horses on Boulder Mountain near McCall Idaho. Rugged mountain terrain, deep snow, steep slope and remote location provided many challenges making rescue nearly impossible. January 19 2017 local snowmobile riders found access to 1 of the horses, packing in hay a water keeping the stranded horse alive. Poor weather delayed rescue attempts, finally January 24 2017 a helicopter from nearby Riggins Idaho could access the location. Many volunteers including local snowmobile riders, sedated the horse, attached lift harness and safely removed off the mountain.
The horse is doing well, Idaho horse rescue believes he will make a full recovery. Unfortunately the other horse was never located.
