Our recent addition to the family was born on 15/11/2016 at only 27 weeks and 5 days. I awoke at 4am, although i didnt know at the time what was happening I suffered from placental abruption. I called 999 and the opperator told me to lay on the and wait for the ambulance. During this my son woke up and woke my daughter who was very confused as to why i was laying on the floor. I explaind to the children mummy is ok. But nanny is coming so dont be frightened and to let her in. They were both amazingly calm. I am very proud of them. My son was coming, he was 3 months early. We were rushed to hospital via ambulance, while all of the time myself my mother and the ambulance crew believed I was having a miscarriage. But while i was in the ambulance i could feel my baby kicking. I told the ambulance man to feel my tummy. He did and he felt the kicks.
When we arrived at Frimley/wexham park hospital I was rushed to the labour ward where I met Mr Garcia who was the surgeon, he explained that i was having a plecental abruption and the baby had to come now! I explained thst it was too early and he said we need to deliver your baby now. I was at this point bleeding too much and they couldnt stop it. So i was rushed in to surgery. When i woke up I asked the nurse what happened, she replied the Dr will be here soon. When mr Garcia arrived he told me my baby was in special care. I was shocked as i was expecting him not to survive. He also explained that we were both very lucky to be alive. I lost half my body blood and had to be transfused 2 units of blood. My baby was Alive!! He weighed 2lb 8oz and was the most beautiful baby boy! My children were desperate to know Itheur mum and their baby brother were ok. Findlay was in the special care baby unit in an incubator and on life support machines for almost all of 3 months. The children adore him! N now hes home!
