Dramatic footage has emerged of a motorist hitting a cyclist at high speed on a road in Rochester, UK.

The video, captured on Thursday, shows the vehicle ploughing into the rider, who was crossing the road unexpectedly.

The collision ends up smashing the car's windscreen, but thankfully neither the driver, passengers, or cyclist were injured.

"I was on the way to Nando's at Chatham dockside, with 2 of my friends. Coming off the roundabout, I went in the right lane and just heard this thud and sound of breaking glass," the filmer wrote online.

"I didn't know what happened, then my friends screamed and I stopped. Only then I realised what happened as I saw a bike bounce down the road and a guy lying in front of my car."

"I got out and people rushed over, I said to my friend ring the ambulance but he was up and moving and was determined not to get an ambulance," he continued.

"I said I was going to call the police, but he didn't want any of that, saying it is not needed, but I rang them anyway because I had to report the accident. I told them what happened, that an ambulance was on their way and that he was un-hurt but my car was un-drivable due to the state of the window. They said because he is unhurt and that he is uninsured, as he is a cyclist, they can't follow it up," he added.
