Storm Clean up Operations at Newlyn and Penzance
Lorries, diggers and Council workers arrive at Newlyn to start work on repairing yesterday's storm damage. The clean up operation stretches across a mile of seafront including public gardens, children's play areas and the Promenade paving slab surface. Victorian railings that have been there for 150 years are bent out of shape. At Penzance lighthouse pier a section of harbour wall has been breached. Discussions are underway about an offshore breakwater which would provide protection to the harbour.
