With the dry season upon us we can no longer take the otters to the creek, and too many sand fleas at the mangroves! We just put out a wash tub and they are just as happy. We were given these Asian small-clawed otter pups when they were just a week old. They are 6 months old now. We often take them to tidal pools and the mangrove areas near us so they can forage on their own. ASC otters mate for life. Each litter the mother has is raised by the subsequent siblings. The otter family stays together until one of the parents dies. Only then will they disperse and find their own mates. These otters are an environmental indicator species. They live to about 10 to 12 years in the wild.Learn more about these otters on my blog:http://otters-of-palawan.blogspot.com/
