Strange mud in a New Forest field
An unusual video has been posted online showing a strange side-effect of recent flooding on a muddy field in the New Forest, England.
The footage shows local couple Nick and Beth Minister, jumping up and down on the severely waterlogged ground which ripples beneath their feet.
“We just happened upon it, there were several similar patches to this one. This was the first one we came across. It was about 10ft sq in area.”
Muddy water can be seen bubbling out of the hole the couple create by pushing a stick into the top layer of soil but they weren't concerned about falling through:
"It's very clay heavy ground around there so we were quite confident it was a shallow recess and not a deep 'sinkhole' underneath.”
