THE WORLD FAMOUS MALDON MUD RACE 2014

Buy video

Started in 1975, as a bet in a local pub, this annual 'mud race' event has become world famous, with people of all ages and from all walks of life, racing across the River Blackwater (at low tide), at Promenade Park, Maldon in Essex, UK.

At one time the Mud Race was held on Boxing Days, however, the event was moved into the Spring, as it was a little more warmer and would attract more people to take part!

The 2014 Event took place at 3.30pm on 25 May 2014 - A Spring Bank Holiday

In order to get a front row seat, and to get to video part of this event, I had to stand among a tightly packed crowd of people, for over an hour with my Sony, with very little movement to pan my camcorder!

I will have to wear waders next year, to video this unusual event again! Hope you enjoy the video and the naked man who also took part!

Here is the link for further information covering this 2014 event, including the list of runners - 300 took part with 240 finishers! First to cross the finishing line, was James Heskey Jones, with 'Batman & Robin', coming in at 240 place!
