A cool video has emerged from the Philippines of a giant Atlas moth which landed inside a home on the flag of the United States.

In the video, which was filmed on Sunday, the impressive moth sits motionless on the Stars and Stripes as the homeowner marvels at its size.

The Atlas moth is one of the biggest in the world.

The tips of its wings are believed to be adapted to look like the head of a cobra to ward off predators.

The Atlas moth belongs to the family of giant silk moths, Saturniidae. They are considered to be the largest moths in the world in terms of wing surface area. These impressive moths can only be found naturally in Southeast Asia, where they are very common. Their name comes from either the Titan of Greek mythology or from the striking pattern on their wings, which resembles a map. If you look at the tips of the forewings they resemble a snakes head, which makes for great predator protection.
I named this one MOTHRA from those early 1970s Japanese movies with Godzilla!...haha
