A heartwarming video has emerged of a US soldier surprising his daughter after six months on deployment.

The footage, captured in Galveston, Texas last week, shows US airman Adam Vera emerging from a Pokemon-themed cardboard box to greet his excited daughter.

According to Vera's ex-wife - he had been serving in Kabul for six months prior to his homecoming.

"This would mean missing holidays and her birthday," she wrote online.

"They had weekly Skype dates, but she still missed her fun times with her daddy."

My ex husband Adam Vera serves in the US Air Force. In 2016, he received notice that he would be deploying to Kabul for 6 months. What made this even more difficult on our daughter, was the fact that he would be leaving in the fall. This would mean missing holidays and her birthday.
