Model house burns down due to overloaded electricity powerpoint

As part of their Science lesson some Grade 9 students made model houses from ice lolly sticks and cardboard. Students then wrapped some resistance wire around the the wood and then started plugging lightglobes in. The more lightglobes plugged in, the more electrical current flowed, and the hotter the resistance wire got.
Eventually it got so hot it set the model house on fire which then burnt surprisingly quickly and dangerously.
Students learnt how important it is not too overload powerpoints. Thankfully most houses are protected with fuses and circuit breakers to prevent this type of event.
