A heartwarming video has emerged of a 17-year-old boy seeing colours for the first time as his best friend gifts him a pair of Enchroma glasses.

The footage, shot in Phoenix, AZ, USA on April 5, shows the young man brought to tears as he can finally differentiate red from green and purple from blue.

"My 17-year-old son just passed all the entrance exams to become a Marine," his mother told Newsflare.

"During his medical exam, they found that he has severe color blindness that will limit the jobs he'll be able to have in the Corp."

"One day he came home from school and there was a package outside the door. His best friend, who just recently graduated from boot camp himself, took his first Marine Corp paycheck and bought my son a pair of Enchroma glasses!"
