Heartbreaking footage has emerged from China of a dog trying to wake up its dead friend, who was killed by a car.

The tragic video, filmed in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province on April 17, shows what appears to be a husky mourning its late friend, who is still lying in the middle of the road, by refusing to leave the animal's side.

According to local reports, the dog stayed by its dead friend's side for around half an hour, until their owner arrived on the scene.

The footage, filmed in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province on April 17, shows a cream-coloured dog pawing and barking at a brown dog lying in the middle of the road.

According to local reports, the brown dog was crashed to death by a car and the cream-coloured dog stayed beside it for more than half an hour until its owner came.
