Rear Ended a 2001 Toyota Corolla on I-95 in Pompano Beach, Florida
First at-fault accident in 15 years of driving. Here in South Florida following the cars too closely is the norm. Usually this is not a problem even if the car in front of you starts braking abruptly. But there are hidden hazards such as in this video... Florida Highway Patrol did not see the video at the scene and gave me a ticket for Careless Driving. The lady in the Corolla said she was uninjured. My insurance company held me fully accountable, the video did not help. "Collision" covered my repairs of over $3000 to the bumper, grille, and radiator assembly, the Corolla was a total loss. My insurance premiums increased by 25% when it was time to renew.
