Hundreds of garter snakes mate in a tangle
An interesting video has emerged from Manitoba, Canada of hundreds of snakes mating.
In the clip, which was filmed at Narcisse Snake Dens on April 28, hundreds of male red-sided garter snakes tangle around larger females at they compete to mate.
Recent warm temperatures in the area have triggered snake mating season with thousands of the reptiles emerging from their dens to procreate.
Female garter snakes produce a pheromone that attracts male snakes in droves, sometimes leading to intense competition and the formation of mating balls of up to 25 males per female.
