Heartwarming footage of a 12-year-old girl emerging from a box presenting adoption papers to her stepfather.

The video shot in Oklahoma, on March 4, shows Jamylyn asking the man who raised her to adopt her on his 35th birthday.

"My daughter Jamylyn had come to me about 3 months prior and said she had been thinking about it for a long time, and she would really like for him to adopt her.

"We went to my parents house, he knew we were having a birthday get together, but not that he was getting a big surprise."

My husband has raised my daughter with me like she was his own since she was barely 4 years old. Her biological father hasn't been present in her life for the majority of that time. My husband and my daughter have wanted for him to be able to adopt her for several years now. She is 12 now. Her father recently signed over his rights so it would be possible for her to be adopted. My husband didn't know that before this video. He was brought to tears (he's not normally the crying type)when he read the papers and found out it was finally possible to adopt her. It was my daughters idea to surprise him for his birthday (he's 35)
