An amusing video has emerged of a South American armadillo playing with a tennis ball.

The footage, shot at Herman Story Winery open house in California, USA on March 11, the armadillo playfully running after a ball to the delight of the visitors.

The armadillo "was seized by customs officials as it was being smuggled inside cases of cantaloupes and this one was "moving" so it stood out to border officials," the filmer wrote online.

"It found its way to the Conservation Ambassadors at Zoo to You and is now part of their family," he added.

At this year's Herman Story Winery open house the animal rescue group "Zoo to You" in Paso Robles, CA brought a number of exotic rescued animals. One of them was this Armadillo from South America, which is smaller and different than those here in the U.S., that was seized by customs officials as it was being smuggled inside cases of cantaloupes and this one was "moving" so it stood out to border officials. It found its way to the Conservation Ambassadors at Zoo to You and is now part of their family. The Armadillo really seemed to be having a lot of fun playing with the tennis ball and the attendees to the event couldn't get enough of this.
